Divx Is No Flash, and That’s a Good Thing

Published by Andy Rush under Audio & Video,Technology

I’m looking at a lot of video lately. Being in the vicinity of prolific film blogger Jim Groom isn’t helping in reducing the amount I’m viewing. I’ve got a bunch of projects I’m working on that involve homegrown video, from Chemistry instructional videos, to historic UMW videos, to soon to be webcast projects like the [...]

The Most Important iPhone Question – Will It Blend?

I have recently held an iPhone in my hands. It’s nice and really nicely designed. I mentioned to some others recently that it is a tough, durable phone. For those of you who don’t know about Blendtec, they sell commercial, restaurant quality blenders (i.e. expensive). They have a whole series of videos, videoblogging style about [...]

Kid Zeppelin) I’ve been heavy into Led Zep lately, so when I found this video it was blogs away! Enjoy, and I dare you to keep your lower jaw from dropping. Linktribution to Respectful Insolence.

Twittergram?

Why are conversations important? Because many times they force you to see things differently and think about things in new ways. Now, who you choose to listen to is important as well. For this post I have just listened, quite literally, to Dave Winer. He is thinking out loud (yes, literally) about a service that [...]

The Value of Waiting In Airports

Published by Andy Rush under Audio & Video,Education

Being a veteran flyer now, I have come to know that there is a wonderful game of hurry-up-and-wait played whilst waiting for a given flight. So we do things like load up our iPods with podcasts, music, etc. to while away the hours, or in some cases, days. While waiting for my flight back home [...]

Surface Computing (aka Multi-touch)

Published by Andy Rush under Audio & Video,Technology

Thanks to David Pogue for pointing to this cool Popular Mechanics video. It features the famous Jefferson “Jeff” Han who talked about the “multi-touch” computer at the TED conference back in February 2006. I’d love one of these “coffee tables” in my media room.

C’mon, Use RSS Already!

Published by Andy Rush under Audio & Video

Click To Play I discovered this via Jeff VanDrimmelen on Lee Lefever’s blog. It’s a Web 2.0 style video of the benefits of using RSS called RSS in Plain English. Nicely done. The only thing I would emphasize is that the information is under the control of the user. If you feel overwhelmed with all [...]

Songbird

Published by Andy Rush under Audio & Video

I’m all into mash-ups lately, so I’m going to present one here that crosses a media jukebox and web browser (and one based on Mozilla to boot) called Songbird. It’s still in early beta, but it has a lot going for it. It functions a lot like iTunes, with the ability to play music from [...]

Time to Make Video Toast

Published by Andy Rush under Audio & Video

As part of a new partnership with KZO Networks, we have received not one but TWO Video Toaster workstations with custom software that will stream live broadcasts on the ‘net. The system also includes two Sony BRC300 robotic color video cameras, along with a wireless audio system. It’s time to get down to some serious [...]
